Well Georgia faces Tennessee this weekend which is always one of the biggest of the year. This time it’s just as big as we’re both in the hunt for the SEC, and this win may be the deciding factor in who will go to the championship.

We’ve got the team to take them on, the question is can we perform?

We have to play as good, if not better than we’ve played all year. If we can match what we brought to the Boise State game then we’ll be sitting pretty on top of the SEC East and ride it on into December. But if we try to pull what we did against South Carolina or even Mississippi State, we’ll be flattened.

Clausen looks like he may not be feeling so hot and we have to take advantage of that and lay him out a few times to remind him who really leads the east. The biggest thing we need to work on though (as always) is red zone. If we constantly do like we have in the past and get the ball inside the 20 to end up with a field goal once more I’m going to go insane. (And why were the field goals so much easier to watch when Billy Bennett was kicking them?)

And while Rocky Top is one of the loudest places I’ve ever been to, we’ll have to shut them down early so all the rednecks have nothing shout about.

A bit of history

I remember my Junior year in college on October 6, 2001 when we loaded up the buses at the butt crack of dawn to drive all the way up to Knoxville to play the Vols in what was one of the most gut-wrenching games ever.

It was a tough, well-fought game all the way and it all came down to the very end.

We had fallen behind 24-20 and there was only 44 seconds left in the game to get downfield and score to win. A field goal wouldn’t have done it, we needed the TD or we were finished.

I was in the Redcoat band on the front row as we went on a drive to come from behind and take the game away from the Vols. The stadium started shaking as over 100,000 fans screamed themselves’ red and black. We had bitten just about every nail we had off and could feel the knots in our stomachs tighten with every second.

We made it down to the 6 yard line with 10 seconds left and ran one last play. Redshirt Freshman David Greene took the snap and dropped back, Veron Haynes ran up middle and….

“Touchdown! We threw it to Haynes. We just stuffed them with five seconds left! My God almighty, it’s 26-24! We just stepped on their face with a hobnailed boot and broke their nose. We just crushed their faces!”

Thinking back on the game and the way the Bulldog nation just erupted and seeing the look on faces of Vols fans, I couldn’t have been happier to be a Georgia Bulldog. That game still gives me chills when I think back on it.

Go Dawgs and take it to em one more time!

Final prediction: UGA 27, UT 20
