You win some…
….you lose some.
Well this weekend could have ended up a little better than I had hoped. It’s hard to watch your teams lose in such hard fought battles. But at least I came out with one victory (the one that really matters most), the Georgia Bulldogs.
Whitney and I went to the Falcons game on Sunday when we took on the Patriots. Coming off of last year I would have thought they might have killed us, but the way they have played recently I thought we had a shot in this one. It didn’t start out good that Vick wasn’t in, but Matt Scaub is still a damn good QB. People like Michael Irvin saying on ESPN that there’s no way the Falcons can win with Schaub have no idea what they’re talking about. This isn’t like when we had Doug Johnson and when Vick went down we’re done for. Schaub can actually play and we still have the team to take anybody in the NFL on.
We ended up losing on a field goal from New England at the very end of the game…it proved pretty devastating, and we had fought back to tie it and had a real chace to take them down.
I also have to say that those officials are some of the worst I’ve seen in the NFL, they should all be fired after that game. Some of the calls (and no-calls) they made are just inexcusable.
…ugh…and the Braves
First of all this has been an incredible season for the Braves. They really have fought through a lot to get to where they did this year and it’s awful that everything was thrown away because of their bullpen. These young guys really did play their hearts out and it has been a very entertaining year, and a good year to be a Braves fan.
Also, Andruw better win MVP. If anybody has been more valuable to their team (the MVP) it’s Andruw Jones. We wouldn’t even have though about the post-season if it weren’t for him.
That being said that Game 4 in Houston has to be the most gut-wrenching grueling baseball game I’ve ever watched. I mean we get a grand slam and then another homerun to go up by 5, our starting pitcher goes 7 1/3 innings only giving up a run, and all we have to do is finish it up and we can come back for a Game 5 in Atlanta.
Well, that didn’t happen. Kyle Farnsworth (who actually has been the best of the bullpen) gives up a grandslam to put them back in it…then another HR is given up by the bullpen for the Astros to tie it. Nine innings later (one of which the Braves had bases loaded and 1 out) the Astros are down to 1 player that they can use…Roger Clemens. At that point he would have to pitch for the rest of the game.
And you know what? I don’t really want to think about the rest of it…you probably know… we lost, Joey Devine gave up a HR…The End.
It’s great to be a Georgia Bulldog
Well if I could only pick one of my teams to win this weekend, it would be the Georgia Bulldogs…and did they ever. We really played Tennessee the best I’ve seen us ever play them. It was a pretty good game all around, our defense is still just as strong.
DeMario Minter…he’s the man.
Thomas Flowers….he’s the man.
Greg Blue….will always be the man.
This is a great team no matter what anyone says. We don’t make our schedule so I don’t want to hear that we haven’t played anybody. I hate that so much of these rankings depends on where you are at the beginning of the year. This was our first real test and we proved ourselves. We have to stay on this level of play for the rest of the season and don’t let any of these rivalries get the best of us.
I mean we should be able to take care of Florida, Auburn, and Tech no problem, but every year those games turn into battles and I’m sure with us sitting up in the top 5 in any of those games, they will all be gunning for us.
On that note, let’s just keep playing ball like this and we’ll be fine…….
